Over the years I have dealt with 5 different outfitters. Jim Boone, owner/operator of Red Bluff Lodge, is by far the most accommodating, professional, knowledgeable outfitter of the 5.

The layout of the lodge was unbelievable. Each room had its own full bathroom, cleaned and attended to everyday. The decor was outdoors/hunting at its best and the food was outstanding.

Jim went/goes out of his way to make sure you have the opportunity, every morning and afternoon, to hunt the animal you wish in the best of situations. He's constantly checking wind direction to assure you the proper stand. Trail cams working 24/7 help him keep track what animals are where.

Bottom line, I would highly recommend Red Bluff Lodge for your next hunting adventure. Red Bluff's brochure reads, "Come as a customer....leave as a friend" isn't just lip service, it's a fact. Southern hospitality at its finest.

License Requirements

We have separated license/permit requirements by species hunted:

DEER

  • ALL deer hunters need a big game permit for 1 day of hunting or for the entire season.
  • Non-resident big game permits are $100 and are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
  • In addition to the big game permit, non-residents will also need a hunting license which is valid for three (3) consecutive days ($40), ten (10) consecutive days ($75), or the entire season ($125). The annual license is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
  • Antlerless (doe) deer tags will be provided, so there is no need to purchase additional tags.
  • Antlered (buck) deer tags are required for all deer hunters, including youth hunters (under age 16), and should be ordered with your big game permit and license. Non-residents may purchase up to four (4) antlered deer tags. Two (2) of these have no antler restrictions and two (2) of these have antler restrictions (4 points on one antler or 12" minimum inside spread). The cost is $50 for the 1st antlered tag and $20 for each additional tag. PLEASE PURCHASE AT LEAST ONE RESTRICTED AND ONE UNRESTRICTED TAG WHEN PURCHASING BIG GAME PERMIT AND HUNTING LICENSE.

TURKEY

  • ALL turkey hunters need a big game permit for 1 day of hunting or for the entire season
  • Non-resident big game permits are $100 and are valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
  • In addition to the big game permit, non-residents will also need a hunting license which is valid for three (3) consecutive days ($40), ten (10) consecutive days ($75), or the entire season ($125). The annual license is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
  • Turkey tags are required for all turkey hunters, including youth hunters (under age 16), and should be ordered with your big game permit and license. The cost for two tags is $100. Only one gobbler may be killed in March. The turkey tags will be mailed to you in the spring. Please don't forget to bring them as only one set of tags can be issued per hunter.

HOG

  • A big game permit is NOT necessary for hog hunting in South Carolina.
  • Hog hunters only need a hunting license which is valid for three (3) consecutive days ($40), ten (10) consecutive days ($75), or the entire season ($125). The annual license is valid for 1 year from the date of purchase.
  • Please refer to the options above for duration and fees.

ALLIGATOR

  • A big game permit is NOT necessary for alligator hunting in South Carolina.
  • Resident and non-resident alligator hunters need a hunting license for the duration of their hunt.
  • ALL participating non-resident hunters also need an additional $200 alligator hunting license.
  • If you were drawn for an alligator tag, please remember to bring the tag and permit. They will need to be in your possession while we are hunting.
  • We will provide the private lands tag and permit.

HUNTER EDUCATION

All resident and nonresident hunters born after June 30, 1979 must have successfully completed a hunter education program and provide their hunter education certificate and ID #.
